Greens was first established in 1963 by Cress Green (Richard’s father). Originally, it was a chiropodist, with beer & wine making as well as health foods. In the early 80s, trade was very slow and the shop only carried a small amount of stock, but since then, interest in health foods has grown year on year.
Richard started working in Greens as a Saturday boy when he was 12 (in the 70s, can you believe!), and in 2008, he and his wife Jane took over the business as partners. Now their daughter, Annie, is also working at the shop, making her the 3rd generation of the family to work at Greens.
